Statement of payments to a tenant of the Qodesh, ca. 1160. A certain al-Nadiv, otherwise known as the perfume maker, tenant of a compound partly owned by the qodesh known as al-Burj, receives several sums from the funds of the qodesh. This money is to be used for completing repairs in his apartment and some others. The statement is in the hand of the judge Mevorakh b. Natan. (Information from Gil, Documents, pp. 289 #60)

(1-4) Al-Shaykh Abūʾl-Makārim al-Parnās also received the above- mentioned 8 dinars, to complete the repairs of the said wall and anything else necessary for him and for the other tenants that are in its upper parts, and the restoration of the pipe in the apartment where he will live. Namely, 4 

  5. dinars and 1/8. . . He also received, paid to him 

  6. (6-8) by Abūʾl-Maʿālī, the son of al-Peʾēr, 19 1⁄4 dir. out of the above-mentioned 8 dinars. The said al-Shaykh Abūʾl-Maʿālī mentioned that they were the balance of the 4 

  9. dinars less 5 qīrāṭs that he had in his possession. 

  10. Jacob ha-Kohen b. Joseph, of blessed memory. Menaḥēm b. Berākhōt, of blessed memory.
