Description

An 11th-century deed of sale for a portion of a house, in Arabic script. In between a [...] al-yahūdī al-ḥarīrī (the Jewish silk trader, who is the buyer) and Abū l-Bishr and Salmūn the sons of [...] (who are the sellers) (... اشترى منهما صفقة واحدة). A quantity of 25 high-quality beehives (خمسة وعشرون خلية من اجود ما يكون) is also mentioned. Mentions the term khandaq (trench) at least twice, al-qayṣariyya, certain trees (al-sidra), a plaza, and a bustān (the location of the beehives?). Dated: 19 Shawwāl 4[.]7 AH. One of the witnesses is Aḥmad b. Nuṣayr b. Muḥammad. Needs further examination.
