Tax receipt issued to Abū l-Ḥasan b. Wahb for his ḍamān on dyeing in Madīnat al-Fayyūm. Written by the jahbadh Mīkhāʾīl b. ʿAbd al-Masīḥ. Dated: 6 Ramaḍān, year not preserved, but almost certainly 405, the year for which the tax was paid and the latest year in the archive.

  5. In the name of God, the merciful and compassionate.
  6. A valid receipt has been granted to ʾAbū al-Ḥasan ibn Wahb for the sum owed through his standing surety for the estates in the town of al-Fayyūm for the year four-hundred and five,
  7. under the supervision of the auspicious, rightly-guided judge, Ṯiqat al-Mulk Makīn al-Dawla wa-ʾAmīnuhā,
  8. the protégé of the commander of the faithful, 'Abu al-Hasan 'Ali ibn Bahār, and in the presence of the trusted judge
  9. [ʾAbū ʿAlī] ibn Yaḥya ibn Bahār, his deputy, with the elder
  10. ʾAbū al-Faraj ʿAbd al-Masīḥ ibn Qūrīl acting as accountant.
  11. Half of this: One, a sixth and a sixteenth. Its amount: Two, a third and an eighth.
  12. [Written by Mīḵā'īl ibn ʿAbd al-Masīḥ, the cashier. Valid.] The sixth [of] the month of Ramaḍān
