Description

Legal document concerning the divorce of a woman Sitt al-Dār, who refused to receive her bill of divorce. The procedure was supervised by “sayyidnā al-nagid" R. Ḥananʾel (b. Shemuʾel). This document is discussed in Goitein and Friedman, India Traders, p. 114. It is one of the main pieces of evidence that Ḥananʾel b. Shemuel served as Nagid for a brief time in the last 1230s or early 1240s. Ed. David, "Divorce" 2:299–301.
