Description

Bill of divorce (geṭ). Location: Bilbays. Dated: 17 Adar II 1483 Seleucid, which is 15 March 1172. Husband: Manṣūr b. Avraham. Wife: Sitt al-Bayt bt. Muwaffaq the freedman (ha-meshuḥrar). The witnesses are Yehuda b. Ṭoviyya ha-Kohen and ʿEli b. Yeshuʿa ha-Kohen. The verso contains the acceptance of the bill of divorce by the wife, signed by witnesses Shemuel b. Seʿadya ha-Levi and Menashshe b. Yosef. (Information from Goitein's index card and Mediterranean Society.) A daughter of Muwaffaq the freedman appears also in T-S J2.78 (PGPID 1325).
