Description

Letter of condolences to Hillel b. ʿEli (fl. 1066–1108 CE) on the death of his wife (?), wishing him to find consolation in the marriage of his son. The writer, Yiftaḥ ha-Kohen, asks for information regarding the return of the nagid Mevorakh b. Saʿadya (1094–1111) from the Upper Egypt to the capital. Dating: 1094–1108 CE, based on Hillel b. ʿEli's active dates and the years when Mevorakh b. Saʿadya bore the title "Nagid" (1094–1111 CE).
