Description
Bill of divorce (geṭ). Location: Fustat. Dated: [15]35 Seleucid = 1223/24 CE. The century is confirmed by the partial signature of [...] b. Meyuppe on verso, who also signs T-S 12.697 (PGPID 20057) in the early 13th century. Husband: Shabbetay b. ממל (Muʾammal?) al-ʿAsqalānī. Wife: Sitt [...] bt. Yefet of Alexandria. (Goitein read Sutayt and the transcription below reads Sutūt, but it seems that the continuation of her name is simply missing.) Verso probably originally contained a witnessed addendum that she received the geṭ. Reused for various other jottings on verso. The document was cut into a rounded octagon.
