Description

Recto (secondary use): Note of seven short lines written in beautiful oversized majuscules, written on the back of an earlier Arabic document. The writer praises bankers in general but is rebuking the addressee, a banker who has fallen short of the ideal. (Information in part from Mediterranean Society, V, p. 237.)

Translation

Alan Elbaum, [digital geniza document edition] (n.p., 2024).

Everyone knows that fantasy and error are not fitting for a clever banker and a discerning assayer, who should understand everything that a person says and does, etc. May his (God's) name be blessed. Your servant heard something, and this is the response. And peace.
