Description

Letter from the Jewish communities in France (“We, the congregations of France”) to Ḥisdai ibn Shapruṭ concerning the ill treatment of Jews in Cordoba during Easter each year. Among other things, the Jewish community had to supply 30 pounds of wax to the Church, and when someone went to deliver it, the man would receive a blow to the neck. The letter requests that Ḥisdai use his diplomatic skill to ameliorate the situation. Information from Goitein's notes.
