Description

Fragment (left side) of a late illuminated ketubba. Location: Cairo. Dating: no earlier than 1703 CE based on the mention of Ottoman [zeri] maḥbūb coinage, which was first minted in that year. The groom's name is Naḥmū(?) and a couple letters of the bride's surname are legible along the paper tear: כז or כה (possibly from [Bera]kha). Requires further examination.
