Description

Recto: draft of a court record written by Shemuel b. Saʿadya ha-Levi (active 1165–1203). Involves a sale; Abū l-Faraj b. Abū Naṣr; an agent, Abū l-Faḍl al-Parnas; the one he is an agent for, Abū l-Ḥasan al-Zajjāj Ibn al-Maṭar. On verso there is the bottom part of a legal deed signed by Mevorakh b. Natan (active 1150–81). Based on these data we can date this fragment to 1165–81. AA [NB: The date given in Mosseri Catalogue (1039 CE) is wrong, and is based on Gil's publication of a document with the same shelfmark (Palestine, II, no. 189) but which is a different document. The Mosseri catalogue refers to this document and mentions Shemuel b. Saʿadya ha-Levi.]
