Description

Commercial accounts, 16th-century. Many names are listed, first and foremost: R. Yiṣḥaq Luria, who appears with the correct honorifics (כמה׳׳ר) for this to be the well-known scholar and kabbalist Ha-ARI (b.1534-d.1572 CE). R. Luria spent much of his life in Cairo and was living at the time these accounts were recorded– his other honorific is נר׳׳ו –so the dating falls somewhere within this timespan. The paleography also supports 16th-century dating. Some of the other names no the recto include: Yaʿacov Sevīlī/Shevīlī, Yiṣḥaq Sūsī Shemuʾel Ḥevronī Yosef b. Ḥayyīm Kohen Yaʿacov Qūdsī Shemuʾel Medina Meʾīr Lomrozo bt. David Iṣṭanbūlī Ḥabīb Ben-Hīnī.
