Description

Accounts in Hebrew, mentioning silk and clothing among other goods. Mentions the names Yosef Karo, Moshe Ḥalfatā, Raḥamīm Zaytūn. The paleography supports a dating estimate of 15th- or 16th-century– within the lifespan of the famous rabbi Yosef Karo (1488–1575), who does appear in other geniza fragments but there is not enough information in these accounts for this association to be certain. See also: T-S 13J24.28 (PGPID 17042) and JRL A 852 (PGPID 28352). A location is possibly mentioned in the opening lines of the recto, "from Qasūtera": מקשותירה(?). Requires further examination. MCD
