Letter: T-S AS 155.321

Letter T-S AS 155.321

Description

Recto: Opening lines of a letter introduced by quotations such as Psalms 31:2. Verso: unusual note that does not seem to be a classic address; it is written vertically and 90 degrees to the direction of the text on the other side, which suggests it was written after the fragment was already torn. It reads, "Letters from [my? your?] brother from Yemen, to be sent to Sicily/Palermo along with my letter, God willing." Maybe the letter on recto was torn to create scrap paper, and this note was then enclosed along with a bundle of letters to be forwarded from Yemen to Sicily via Egypt.
