Description
Colophon in the handwriting of Evyatar ha-Kohen b. Eliyyahu Gaon b. Shelomo Gaon b. Yosef ha-Kohen Av Bet Din. Evyatar was titled "the fourth" (ha-reviʿi) at the time he wrote this. Location: Fustat. Dated: 1 Av 4827 AM, which is 1067 CE. The book contains the commentary on Ḥagiga by Hayya b. Sherira Gaon, as well as Sefer ha-Dinin of the late Rabbenu Ḥananel (who was still alive in 1053 CE, fourteen years before this colophon was written) and kinnushim(?) and legal queries. There is an elaborate blessing for anyone who returns the book and a curse for anyone who does not. (Information from Gil.)

With a good sign and an excellent omen, this book contains a complete, clear commentary on tractate Ḥagigah, by Rabbenu Hay[ya] Ga’on, son of Rabbenu Sherira Ga’on, descendants of geonim.
I copied it for myself—I, Evyatar ha-Kohen, the “Fourth” [in status], son of R. Elijah ha-Kohen, head of the Academy of the Pride of Jacob, son of Solomon ha-Kohen, head of the Academy of the Pride of Jacob, son of Joseph ha-Kohen, head of the court, may the spirit of the Lord lay them to rest [see Isaiah 63:14]. Let the pious exult in glory; let them sing for joy upon their beds (Psalms 149:5).
And it contains the book of the laws of Rabbenu Ḥananel, the outstanding teacher, as well as a collection [of rulings] and responsa written in Fustāt, Egypt, and completed [on] the first of the month of Av, in the year 4827 of creation [1067].
Whoever comes into possession of it and restores it to him, or to his heirs after him, may he be blessed, remembered, protected, and may he merit to have sons who will study the Torah. But if he shall steal it, sell it, or turn a blind eye from restoring it to him or to his heirs after him, may he be cursed and ostracized: May the stars of his twilight be dark; may he look for light but have none (Job 3:9). May he fumble in darkness [see Deuteronomy 28:29]. May his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow; let his children be vagabonds and beg; and let them seek [their bread] out of their desolate places (Psalms 109:9–10). And so may it be His will to bless the one who restores it forever, Selah.
