Description / Bio

Enslaved woman mentioned in a letter sent from the mother of Abū l-ʿIzz (in Alexandria) to her son Abū l-ʿIzz b. Bishr in the shop of Abū l-Riḍā ibn al-Lebdi (in Fustat). According to Craig Perry's dating estimate the letter is ca. late-twelfth century. (Information from PGP and Craig Perry, Slavery and the Jews of Medieval Egypt, Appendix 1, no. 105)
