Description / Bio

Merchant on the Malabar coast. Perhaps a man of some importance or simply an associate of the nākhudā Fidyār, since Ibn Yijū and Maḍmūn both think he and the Fidyār might be able to help with a delayed shipment of cardamom. His name literally means "son of a sick woman." Nisba suggests that he or his family was from Qayrawān (Information in part from Goitein and Friedman, India Traders, 609).
