  1.                    المملوك 

  2.                    مكارم بن اسحق المتطبب

  3. بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم 

  4. يقبل الارض فينهى انه ممن نشا طبيبا ماهرا فى صناعة 

  5. الطب وحكيما مولانا السلطان الرشيد الدمشقى والرشيد 

  6. ابو حليقة يعلمون جودة علم المملوك لهذه الصناعة وهو 

  7. يسل قبل [مجلس] مولانا السلطان اعز الله نصره صدقة 

  8. الباقى من جراية الاسعد الطبيب ببيمارستان القاهرة 

  9. وهى ثلثة دنانير فى كل شهر على المملوك ليكون ملازم 

  10. لعلاج المرضى ويجاب الدعا [في مولا]نا السلطان والراى اعلى 

  11. والحمد لله وحده وصلواته [على سيـ]ـدنا محمد واله وسلم تسليما

  1. The slave
  2. Makārim ibn Isḥāq, the doctor.

  3. In the name of God, the merciful and compassionate.

  4. (The slave) kisses the ground and reports that he is a trained and able practitioner in the profession

  5. of medicine. The two doctors of our master the sultan, al-Rashīd al-Dimashqī andal-Rashīd

  6. Abū Ḥulayqa, attest to the excellence of the slave's knowledge in this profession. He makes

  7. a request before our lord the sultan, may God make great his victory, of the gift

  8. of the remainder of the salary of al-Asʿad, the doctor in the hospital of Cairo,

  9. that is three dīnārs every month, (paid) to the slave for him to practise

  10. the treatment of the sick and let the prayer (of the slave) [for] our lord the sultan be answered. The resolution (of the sultan) is exalted. 

  11. Praise be to God alone and his blessings [be upon our lord] Muḥammad and his family and save them.
