  2. four h[undred] forty-two according to the calendar to which we are accustomed in Fusta[t, Egypt],
  3. which is located on the Nile River, it came to pass [that all of us], witnesses before the honorable
  4. lady, the mother of (his) ho(nor), gr(eatness and) ho(liness) (our) te(acher) and ma(ster) [may his glory be] ex[alted], called Saʿd al-Mulk, in
  5. sound mi[nd and legally capable of conducting] her affairs, without force, compulsion, negligenc[e, or error]
  6. [without the infirmity of disease affecting her, nor any of the other factors that] invalidate testimony, but rather wholeheartedly and with [a willing soul]
  7. [ ... ] Abū [ ... ], known as Mubāraka, said that she is from
  8. [the lands of Rūm, and that a man freed her] known as Ibn al-Watīd, a former dyer from whom \\she requested clothing// and capitation tax (?).
  9. [She is currently residing in the house of the trust]ee, (may his) R(ock) p(reserve him). He is Mr. ʿEli \\ha-Kohen// the Parnas, son of Yaḥyā, (may he) r(est in) E(den).
  10. [She wishes to marry one] of our Jewish associates. When I saw
  11. [hesitation] from him, [I accepted up]on myself any liability that might occur [ ... ]. Now, be my witnesses
  12. and write, seal, and deliver this to M[r. ʿEli ha-Kohen] the Parnas and to anyone who
  13. may arrange the marriage of this Mubāraka with one of our Jewish companions of whom
  14. she approves: that I [guara]n[tee] for each one of them any liability that might result from marrying
  15. this Mubāraka, and I have hereby accepted upon myself this guarantee from now on, acceptance ...
  16. in every manner and reason, with nullification of any protest or condition, and commitment to liability in this,
  17. with the most perfect and wisest (means) that our sages have ordained regarding the guarantee of responsibility. We wrote and signed
  18. and gave to Mr. [ʿE]li ha-Kohen the Parnas, son of [Yaḥ]yā the Mumḥe (may his) m(emory be) b(lessed), to serve in his hand as a right
  19. [and as a proof ...] regarding the marriage of this Mubāraka. It is firm and established. He has sought ...
  20. [ ... ʿEli] ha-Kohen [...] and this is their confirmation: Avraham b. Yiṣḥaq (may he) r(est in) E(den).
