Legal query addressed to Avraham Maimonides. Written in the hand of Shelomo b. Eliyyahu, whose name appears on verso along with Yeḥezqel and Yeḥiʾel b. Elyaqim. Concerning a dying woman who summons two witnesses and has them perform a qinyan that she intends a female relative to receive 10 dinars from her estate after her death. She has since died. The witnesses now refuse to testify to this qinyan on the principle that a will (waṣiyya) does not require a qinyan. Must the heirs pay the female relative the 10 dinars?
