Legal record (#130) in a court register/pinqas from a Karaite beit din in Cairo (on f. 42r of Yevr.-Arab. I 328). On the fourth of an unnamed month and year, but probably circa 1569 based on the dating two entries earlier in the court register: 2 Elul 5329 AM (1569 CE). Marital dispute resolution in which Yehuda b. ʿAbd al-Karīm al-Kohen agrees not to strike nor curse his wife Shāhīn bt. Ibrahīm al-Levi, the cook (al-ṭabbākh). The agreement also includes specific conditions for how much wine Yehuda is permitted to drink (3 cups) and stipulations against him residing with anyone other than his wife and mother. Yehuda agrees not to travel for a period of 3 years without his wife and mother's consent. A fine of 10 gold coins must be paid to the Karaite qodesh if Yehuda violates any of these conditions. MCD.
