Verso: Legal document recorded on the back of an eighteenth-century letter. Dated 1727 CE (Kislev 5488 AM) in line 13. The document deals with a property (listed as "בקאנט"[?]) in the Karaite neighborhood of Cairo and directly involves Sabaqīya wife of R. Fasa/Pasa (she is the recipient of the letter on the recto). The property's title is also listed in line 11 but the spelling appears to be slightly different "בקאנה"[?]. There is mention of someone traveling to Venice (וניציאה) in line 7. There are are several other names involved in this complex transaction: Sh[...] ha-Levi Skandari, a certain Avraham and his sons Eliyahu and Yaʿaqov (their surname may appear in one of the damaged/creased portions of the document). The document was witnessed by R. Ḥayyīm Ṭawīl (whose status as a rabbi is indicated by הח׳=ha-Ḥakham). MCD.
