الوصف

Bifolio with various pen trials in Arabic and Hebrew script and a drawing of a floral design. Dating: late, probably Ottoman-era. On recto some of the writing exercises are based on a poetic couplet about weak memory sometimes attributed to al-Shāfiʿī (شكوت إلى وكيع سوء حفظي ، فأرشدني إلى ترك المعاصيوقال إن علم الله نورٌ ، ونور الله لا يعطى لعاصي), here with some variants/mistakes. On verso there is a poetic couplet beginning "when my wife complained about me to the judges" (لما اشتكتني زوجتي للقضاة فمسني منها جميع الالم فقالت يا قاضي اكتب عليه فقلت تبريني لاني قلم). There are also many practice signatures by Nissim Ṭawīl.
