Official correspondence in Arabic script, addressed to a superior. Dating: Mamluk period, based on the migration of the tarjama to the right margin. The sender's name in the tarjama is too damaged to read; the tarjama seems to read, on its first line, aḥad (?) al-mamālīk, one (?) of the slaves). He reports that he received the letter (al-musharrafa al-karīma) from the addressee (al-majlis al-sāmī al-mawlawī al-makhdūmī al-wālidī(?) al-munʿimī mālik al-riqq al-mukhliṣ). He fulfilled the order concerning 'the noble brother' Hibatallāh (wa-imtathala al-marsūm al-karīm fīhā bi-qaḍiyyat al-akh al-jalīl Hibatallāh) and liberating something for him (wa-istikhlāṣ al-[...] lahū ḥasb al-marsūm). He asks to continue to be honored with further services. This may be an exampled of the genre of ikhwāniyyāt, on which see F. Bauden, "Ikhwāniyyāt Letters in the Mamluk Period: A Document (Muṭālaʿa) Issued by al-Muʾayyad Shaykh’s Chancery and a Contribution to Mamluk Diplomatics" (2021). There is also writing in Arabic script on verso, faded and difficult to read. ASE/MR
