Two leaves from a book of interesting medical remedies, in Judaeo-Arabic. The remedies preserved here are topicals, e.g., for skin lesions and ulcers, cosmetics for the face, and compresses including one for heavy menstrual bleeding and vaginal bleeding during pregnancy: (take) peeled lentils, pomegranate peel, saffron, gallnut, seed of al-Amīr Bārīs (= barbārīs = barberry); these should be ground up and made into a paste with vinegar and applied to the belly/uterus (baṭn) and to the pubic region (ʿāna).
