الوصف

Letter fragment in Hebrew, written in a high register, mourning the illness (keʾev) and/or other sufferings (yissurim) that have afflicted the 'foundation of the generaiton, the father of those who hold fast to the Torah, the glory of the shepherds' shelters,' a dignitary named ʿOvadyahu. Cites Talmudic sayings about bereavement and suffering, including a saying of Resh Laqish and what R. ʿAqiva said when the sons of R. Yishmaʿel died (חביבין יסורין). Joins: Alan Elbaum.
