الوصف

State document, fiscal. Maybe concerning two months of agricultural taxes. Dated: looks like 403 AH, but this should be checked. The main text after the basmala may read: ليتسلم …… ادام الله عزه …. الزراعات لشهرين … لسنة ثلث واربعمائة. In addition, at the bottom, it mentions Dīwān al-Karāʿ (bureau of the livestock). Al-Qalqashandī mentions the duty of this office in overseeing the affairs of the [state] stable (iṣṭabal); al-Qalqashandī, Ṣubḥ al-ʿĀshā, III: 568 (https://shamela.ws/book/9429/1658). In the endorsement at the top, the word "yuqābal" appears: "yuqābal hādhā al-diwān al-karāʿ", (cf. ENA 3918.11). Needs further examination.
