Fiscal document. Multiple entries. Mentions: the receipt (wurūd) and expenditures (mā dufiʿa) of large sums of money; slaves (khadam); people such as Abū Bakr, ʿĪsā Ṣāhib al-Dawābb (superintendent of animals or master of the stables), Hilāl b. Ibrāhīm al-Khāzin (the treasurer), [...] al-Ḥusayn; a disbursement (iṭlāq) to Sayyidnā Abū l-Faḍl (Tustarī?); and al-Mawṣilī the friend (ṣāḥib) of Abū Salama al-Baghdādī. Also alludes twice to a gift (hadiyya) to the city of Baghdād (madīnat al-salām). Another (less likely) reading for هدىة could be truce (hudna), which would suggest a context of diplomatic relations or a peace treaty. Mentions "Wednesday the 15th" but there does not seem to be a full date preserved. Reused on both sides for the Mishna of Avot accompanied by Arabic commentary or partial translation written in Arabic script (this was common among Qaraites but unusual among Rabbanites). ENA 3691.6 includes Avot 2:4-8 (verso) and
5:7-9 (recto). T-S AS 169.68 includes Avot 2:16-3:2 (verso) and
4:22 (recto). T-S 16.268 includes Avot 3:5-15 (verso) and 4: 11-12 (recto). The gaps in the text of Avot suggest that at least a few more joins remain to be found. Joins: Alan Elbaum. (Information in part from CUDL.)
