الوصف
Court record(s) in the hand of Hillel b. ʿEli. Written on a bifolio. It's not immediately clear if all are the same record, or if there are two or more records here. Verso (right page): There is a verbatim transcript of an earlier (probably Arabic/Muslim) court record (פאחצר לנא כט והדא נסכתה חרף בחרף) certifying that Faḍl b. Sahl b. Faraḥ owes Abū l-Surūr Faraḥ b. ʿAṭiyya 101 dinars, and he will repay it in Alexandria. This earlier document was dated first decade of Shaʿbān 4[.]6 AH. There is possibly a signature including the name Menashshe at the bottom. The remaining three pages appear to be one continuous record. At the bottom of the left page of recto there are signatures of Ṭoviyya b. Khalaf and Mevorakh b. Saʿadya (later became the Head of the Jews 1094–1111), along with another very faded signature. These pages discuss a business partnership. Involving Ḥesed b. Shela; many valuable commodities (gold, silver, Byzantine brocade); 200 dinars; traveling to Syria (al-Shām) to sell these goods; settling accounts in Alexandria after the travel; Tripoli (likely the one in al-Shām); questioning of Ḥesed about this; and shipping them in the ship of Abū ʿAlī al-Shāmī, which sank. Related to Bodl. MS heb. b 3/2 (PGPID 6336) from 1080/81 CE. AA/ASE
