Letter from Mevorakh b. Shelomo to the teacher Abū l-Bishr Mevasser b. ʿEli, in Cairo. Dated: Sivan 1488 Seleucid = May 1177 CE. Acknowledges receipt of the addressee's letter sent with Khalīl; as for the addressee's request for children's clothing, the writer has been unable to send anything for two reasons. First, because the baby girl who was born a year and a half ago died, "and some say that it is not fitting to give her clothing to another baby." Second, because a son named Yehuda was recently born to the writer. He says he will send the clothing as soon as he can. Then mentions Yiṣḥaq b. Sason, the well-known judge from the circle of Maimonides, and a matter concerning a warehouse. Greetings from his father, his mother, his brothers Zakkay and Yehuda, his older and younger sisters. Greetings to Raḍiyy al-Dawla, Abū l-Maʿālī, two cousins, their mother, and the sister of Raḍiyy al-Dawla. AA/ASE
