الوصف

Recto (secondary use): Note in Hebrew with a few words of Judaeo-Arabic interspersed. The sender urges the addressee to send אלמלגמה quickly. This term may be best understood as the Aramaic "melugma" (emollient, plaster, poultice, soothing remedy), which derives from Greek μάλαγμα. The same Greek term was also adopted as "malghama" into Arabic, but this may have referred only to non-medicinal amalgams in this period (the English word 'amalgam' is also a derivative of μάλαγμα). The sender then discusses the preparation and buying of oil. Ends: "Do not delay these things, for you do not know what the day may bring forth (Proverbs 27:1), and even if your father were alive, he would not love you like I do. May your peace increase."
