Letter to a dignitary, probably Abū Yefet Yosef b. Abū Sahl. In Hebrew and vocalized. Quite faded; the continuation on verso is almost too faded to read anything. The sender seems to allude to his distress and to his friendship with the addressee. In the margin mentions the names [...] b. Bundār (suggesting an Indian Ocean context?) and Shemuʾel. Some of the introductory phrases are as follows: לאדירנו ואור עינינו ארגז התעודה / דגל מחנות ישראל ויהודה / הבחיר בעם קדש / כסהר בחצי חדש / אבי יפת יוסף / שמים על ימיו יוסף / לשומו עדות ביהוסף / כמלך בישורון . . . . . . . . / וכבוד הדר הסגלות / אלי מים מתוח(?) שרשו / וטל . . . בקצירו וגדשו / תורת אמת היתה מורשו / ליל ויומם הגיגו ודרשו / זה הדור בלבושו / יחיד שמנו ורששו(?) / אשר . . . קשורה בנפשו / יברכו . . . . . קדשו / . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ויחיה את כלל בניו / ויאיר בם(?) את עיניו / . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . בן אבו סהל הזקן הצדיק והחסיד בכל שיח / אשר ביראתו וצדקתו מצליח
