Recto: Poem in Arabic, written in a beautiful hand. Headed [...] b. Yahūdā al-[...] raḥimahū allāh fī [...]. The text in the left margin at 90 degrees may be the continuation. Partially vocalized; long and short lines alternate; short lines have same rhyme syllable. Verso: Mostly or entirely in the same hand, various text blocks of private accounts in Arabic. There is also a phrase in Arabo-Hebrew (عروبث سكوث = the eve of Sukkot). Dating: unknown, may be Mamluk era (ca. 14th–16th century). The items (e.g. ʿarḍī, malḥafa) and currencies mentioned (e.g., wariq, nuqra, aswad dirhams) are typical of the medieval era. The handwriting and the notation used for numerals (possibly an early version of eastern Arabic numerals?) seem later. Mentions various payments and purchases, apparently made by somebody in the service of the writer. Mentions al-Shaykh al-Muʿaẓẓam al-Faqīh al-Qāḍī Zayn al-Dīn Khāqān(?); a payment for the capitation tax (jizya); a payment for guests (aḍyāf); a receipt of rental paymnet "for the new house"); something to do with the emptying (ikhlā) of the "original house"; purchases of various clothing items; various "papers" (kāghad) in some cases containing other items; two entries for payments made "while ill" (fī ḥāl al-maraḍ) and possibly a mention of young chickens (farrūj, the traditional fare of a convalescent). Several books seem to be mentioned - possibly a work of remedies (ʿilājāt al-akhlāṭ(?) by Qusṭā; Kitāb al-Mughnī by Ibn [...]; a book on astrology (fī aḥkām al-nujūm); and an introduction (madkhal). Merits further examination.
