  1. Benim rūḥum Muʿallim Salmūn,

  2. Baʿde’s-selām bi’l-ʿizz ve’l-ikrām, inhāʾ ve iʿlām olunan budur ki:

  3. Benim rūḥum, işbu ḥāmil-i varaḳa Manṣūr ser bölük ol cānibe revāne olunmuştur.

  4. Ve mezkūrun yedinde baʿżı tezākir vardır. Ve Kaʿbe-i şerīfe teveccüh itmekdir

  5. murādı. Vuṣūl bulduḳda, luṭf [ü] mürüvvet idüb, müsāʿade idesiz zīrā

  6. ḳadīmī beledīnizdir, ve size iʿtimād idüb, ol cānibe tevec- cüh eylemişdir.

  7. Kerem idüb, mezbūrı ʿavḳ itdirmeyüb, himmetiniz dirīġ itmeyesiz

  8. zīrā iʿtimādı size ke-velīdir [?], bāġ-ı ḳadīmin lāzımdır ki maʿlūm olmaya.

  1. My dear Muʿallim Salmūn,

  2. Following greetings with nobility and honour, the commu- nication and announcement are as follows:

  3. My dear, the bearer of this letter, Manṣūr the divisional

    commander, has travelled to that region.

  4. The aforementioned [bearer] has several documents in

    hand and intends to proceed to the noble Kaʿba.

  5. When he arrives, demonstrate your generosity and favour

    him because

  6. he has long been your fellow townsman. He has proceeded to that region relying on you.

  7. Be noble, and do not hinder or refuse the aforementioned [bearer] your support

  8. because he trusts you like a patron [?]. Your old bond must not be forgotten.
