Report from a Fatimid chancery clerk concerning an iqṭāʿ. The land is a sugarcane plantation (al-qand), mentions dīwān al-qand, or rather dīwān al-saʿīd, and the names of at least three officials. Overall, the document records the submission and receipt of fiscal revenues from the rural district of Minyat Sandabasṭ al-Qadīma in Egypt. The document concerns the delivery of two current instalments owed to the dīwān, representing assessed revenues associated with local wells or irrigation resources (abyār) that had been granted as iqṭāʿ holdings. The payment pertains to the fiscal year 520 H, while the document itself is dated to Jumādā I 521 H. The revenue was delivered by Muḥammad b. Ibrāhīm, acting as deputy for Abū al-Ḥusayn b. Ḥamza, apparently transmitting funds or produce on behalf of the latter’s father. The transaction took place under the supervision of the amīr al-Mukhlis Sadīd al-Mulk and involved several additional officials and witnesses, including Abū Manṣūr […], the shaykh Abū al-Barakāt, Yaḥyā b. Yaḥyā b. Salāma (serving as administrator on behalf of Yaḥyā b. Faḍl), and Shadd Ḥusām al-Dawla Najm al-Dīn. Also mentions grain depots/warehouses (shūn) in Fusṭāṭ, the requirement of a legal receipt (ḥujja) to be obtained from the previously mentioned local headman, and the reference to a quantity of approximately three hundred loads, presumably of grain or another taxable commodity. Needs further examination. YU.
