Letter from a certain Khalaf b. Isḥāq to someone whose name includes Shemaʿya, sent to the house of Abū Yaʿqūb Yūsuf al-Qudsī, in Fustat. In Judaeo-Arabic with the address in Arabic script. Mainly concerning business matters, including the silk trade. Mentions Damietta; Sitt al-ʿAshīr; al-Ḥarīrī; the sender's brother-in-law; a lawsuit; the authority of Sayyidnā Sar ha-Sarim (probably Mevorakh b. Saʿadya); and a request that all the Jews in Damietta "go to the government." The sender is probably not the well-known trader Khalaf b. Yiṣḥaq of Aden: the handwriting is different, the Adeni Khalaf is unlikely to devote a letter to affairs in Damietta, and this document is probably too early.
