  7. יתסעד בה עלי וקתה ולכם ה ה ו קה
  8. פאלחק תע יגעלכם מן הנותנים ולא מן
  9. הנותנים (!) ויעמר כם ויכתר ארזקכם
  10. ויברך אתכם אנשים ונשים טף ובחורים
  11. יקים עליכם קרא דכתי ייי אלי אבותיכם
  12. יוסיף עליכם ככם אלף פעמים וג' ושלום

  1. In the name of the Compassionate
  2. The noble community in Fustat, may their Rock bless them and
  3. their Creator help them, a(men) n(esah) s(ela), is hereby informed that the person just arriving in
  4. your midst, the elder R. Yom Tov, is a poor man from a good family,
  5. and the members of his household are poverty stricken (Arabic: “weak”). Through the beneficence of the community,
  6. may you be bl[ess]ed, I h[o]pe you will collect something for him in the synagogues
  7. to help him in his hour of need. It will [b]e to your merit as an act of righteousness (charity) (cf. Deuteronomy 24:13).
  8. May God the ex(alted) make you “givers rather
  9. than givers” [sic], [m]ake [yo]ur habitations prosper, increase your sustenance,
  10. [b]less you, men, women, children and young men.
  11. May he fulfill through you the verse “May the Lord, the G(od) of your fathers,
  12. increase your numbers a thousandfold,” etc. (Deuteronomy 1:11). And peac[e].
