- [On such day] of the week, such and such of month
- [X,] four thousand, eight
- [hundred and] fifty[-four] years A.
- M., [in] town X, which is adjacent to place
- X, on river (X), "I, Saadia the [ḥazza]n
- b. R. Ṣedaqa the [ḥazza]n, m(ay his) s(oul be) b(ound) i(n the bundle of) l(ife), declare
- intentionally, wi[lling]ly, and of my choice to marry
- you, thee, ʿAzūz, the bride, daughter of master
- Isaac (who) r(ests in) E(den), so that you shall be my wife. I
- will serve, nourish, [h]onor, and support you
- in the manner of Jewish men who serve, nourish,
- provide for, and honor their wives
- faithfully. And you ʿAzūz daughter of Isaac (who) r(ests in) E(den)
- shall stand before (me) and serve me. And you shall strive
- to do with me all that do
- proper women wi[th] their husbands, in purity

- מאוחרין חוב ודן נדוניא דהנעי[לת]
- על[יי] ויכתוב גמי[ע] א[ל]רחל כל
- עלק בתמנה פא[דא] לם יבק
- שיא יפדלך אלג[מי]ע והאוי
- כלל כתובתא דא מוהרא
- ותוספתא ונדוניא כן וכן דדהבא
- ותריסר זוזי ופלגא וקבלת
- אני סעדיה החזן בירבי צדקה
- החזן תנצבה אחר[יו]ת כתובתא
- דא [[.]] עלי ועל [י]רתיי בתריי
- דמגבא ליך [מ]כל שפר ארג

- and cleanness. I will give to you as [your] ke[tubba money]
- twelve and a half zuz, as is [due you]
- according to the Torah. And I will give [to you an addition]
- of ⟦twenty-five dina[rs]⟧ {[t]hirty dinars},
- of which I have [already] advanced to you te[n dinars,]
- and there rem[a]in for you, incumbent upon me, twenty d[inars],
- delayed, as a debt. And this is the dowry which [you] brou[ght]
- to [me]." (Then) he writes the enti[re] trousseau, every
- item with its value. Whe[n] there remains no-
- thing, he totals it a[l]]: And the
- total of this marriage contract, the mohar
- the additional gift, and the dowry, is so many of gold
- and twelve and a half zuz. "And I,
- Saadiah the ḥazzan b. Ṣedaqa
- the ḥazzan, m(ay his) s(oul be) b(ound) i(n the bundle of) l(ife), undertake the secur[it]y of this marriage
- contract, upon me and upon my [h]eirs after me,
- to be collectable by you [from] all the best (and) choice [of my possessions..."]
