To the most illustrious elder, the illustrious Kohen Abu ʾl-ʿAlāʾ, m(ay his) R(ock) k(eep him). If you wish to revive the knowledge of the sections of the Bible which you have studied — your servant is at your disposal. And also at that of your father, the Dean of the Kohens, (may his) R(ock) k(eep him). If coming to me causes you embarrassment and shame, I am prepared to come to your noble home....
