الوصف

Deed of lease. Lessee: Tamīm b. Yaʿqūb b. Yūsuf al-Yahūdī who lives in Sūq al-ʿAṭṭārīn. Lessor: the former agent/administrator of the properties of the Qodesh (wakīl al-aḥbās al-mawqūfa ʿalā ḍuʿafāʾ al-yahūd) Bayān b. Bū Naṣr b. Mūsā, potentially identical with the parnas Abū l-Bayān b. Elʿazar ha-Levi who appears in many documents of the Qodesh edited by Gil from the late 12th century (e.g., CUL Or.1080 J10). This document appears to be dated 27 Dhū l-Qaʿda 569 AH = 29 June 1174 CE. Beautifully preserved. Mentioned in passing by Khan in "An Arabic Document of Acknowledgement from the Cairo Genizah," JNES 53 no. 2 (1994), p. 122, but otherwise no bibliography. Merits further examination. ASE
