الوصف

Receipt/order of payment issued by the state Bureau of Silk Looms. Dated: 8 Rabīʿ II 1239 AH = 1823/24 CE. Location: Alexandria. The receipt is for 25 gurush that Muṣṭafa Zaytūn received from Mūsa Naʿīm under the authority of the dīwan overseer, ʿUmr Agha, whose signature and ink seal appear at the end of the document. Muṣṭafa Zaytūn received payment for spinning silk yarn (الفتل) and his place of work (الدار الدور) is possibly mentioned in line 10: "the house of spinning(?)"– but the usage of الدور seems unconventional. The filing note in Hebrew script on the verso repeats the name, "Musṭafa Zaytūn." MCD.
