الوصف

Brief letter in Arabic script. Dated: 6 __(?) 1243 AH (1827/1828 CE), with the month indicated by a sole ligature or letter (ل؟)– possibly Shawwal. The signature of ʿAlī ___[?] Agha Kapūdān Būlāq is present– which highlights the Nile port of Būlāq as the location where this document was likely issued. Another name with the title Kapūdān appears in line 1 and al-rayyis Abū al-Saʿūd al-Makkawī is mentioned in line 2. The sender mentions in the final line that "no charges/expenses are needed from you" (محتاج منكم عدم المصارفة). MCD.
