الوصف

Receipt issued by a waqf overseer (ناظر وقف) for "ground rent" (حكر) of properties in the "the Jewish quarter" of Cairo (حكر القاعات بحارت اليهود). Dated 1189 AH (1775/1776 CE). With an Ottoman-era stamp– likely that of the waqf overseer. The receipt was issued to a certain "Salāmūn al-Yahūdī". Pinholes at the margin ~5–6mm apart suggest that this fragment may once have once been sewn together with ENA 3924.5 (but not by the original owners given the different dates). MCD.
