Description / Bio

Hebrew poet and author of The Kuzari, a philosophical defense of Judaism. Born in Toledo, died probably on the way to Palestine from Alexandria in 1141. Spent the last year or so of his life in Egypt where he composed numerous poems in honor of various individuals. Also a prolific author of liturgical poetry. Several of his autograph letters survived in the Geniza.
