Description / Bio

Enslaved person possibly mentioned in a letter sent by the wife of Yehuda b. Moshe b. Sughmār, in Fustat, to her husband Yehuda b. Moshe b. Sughmār, in Alexandria. Craig Perry notes that Walāʾ's legal status as an enslaved person is unclear based on this reference. (Information Craig Perry, Slavery and the Jews of Medieval Egypt, Appendix 1, no. 115)
