Description / Bio

Ordained by the yeshivas of Jerusalem and Baghdad and head of the Iraqi community in Fustat. Son-in-law of Efrayim he-Ḥaver b. ʿEli b. Ṭarson. Native Egyptian in the seventh generation (from Sunbāṭ). Active from ca. 1017 (TS 16.124). Died in, or shortly before, 1032.
