Description / Bio

Discussed in Friedman, "Maimonides Appoints R. Anatoly Muqaddam of Alexandria" Tarbiz 83 (תשע"ה), 141. There are sometimes small variations in his titles (e.g. Neʾeman ha-Soḥarim vs Paqid ha-Soḥarim). It is possible that this person is actually two different figures, as his father's name is given as Ḥalfon in the legal document Bodl. MS heb. c 28/54 (PGPID 2523) and as Saʿadya in the memorial list T-S AS 148.5 (PGPID 4164). The memorial list is probably less reliable than the legal document.
