Description / Bio

Enslaved woman who was a "singer" (jāriya mughanniya) and "wailer" (al-nā'iḥa), she was sold in 1156 CE by Abū l-Barakāt al-Thiqa to an unnamed buyer (Information from Craig Perry, Slavery and the Jews of Medieval Egypt, Appendix 1, no. 1)
