Description

Fragment from the top of a deed of sale. In the hand of Shelomo b. Eliyyahu. Location: Bilbays. Dated: 20 Adar II 1535 Seleucid = 13 March 1224 CE, under the authority of the Nagid Avraham Maimonides. Ṭahor b. Shelomo Ibn al-Labbān acknowledges that he has received 40 broken (mutaqaṭṭiʿa) dirhams from Mubārak b. Shelomo ha-Kohen, in exchange for which he sells him half of a plot (sāḥa) in Ushmūm Ṭannāh together with its walls. (Information mainly from Goitein's index card.)
