Description

Description from T-S AS 148.47: Legal document in the hand of Ḥalfon b. Menashshe ha-Levi (1100–38 CE). Mentions a will (אלצואה אלמדכורה); Abū l-Barakāt; Yaʿqūb al-Lebdī; 50 dinars which he received from Zayn b. Jumayʿ al-Ṣayrafī, which was attested by two witnesses against him and his father on behalf of the family/colleagues of Abū l-Riḍā; namely (the two witnesses are) Abū Saʿd ha-Shishi ba-Ḥavura and Abū l-Ḥasan al-Talmid, in the year 509 AH = 1115/16 CE; they checked the account book of the deceased (daftar al-mutawaffā) for the year 510 AH = 1116/17 CE, which documented that he had paied two burniyyas of civet; then mentions Yosef b. ʿAllūsh and 205 dirhams. (Information in part from CUDL.) Description from T-S 10J15.22: Legal document. In the hand of Ḥalfon b. Menashshe. Dating: Shortly after 511 AH, which is 1117/18 CE. (This is in line 3.) Mentions three burniyyas of civet perfume (written as zabad and zabada; cf. India Book III, doc. 29, ll. 8,10 and III, doc. 2, verso, l. 2).
